Blaze A Trail 2009
Over the years, many have experienced the majesty of the Niagara Escarpment as it stretches across Southern Ontario from Niagara to Tobermory. Along the edge of the escarpment runs a trail that has grown from a dream to the 900 kilometre long pathway known as the Bruce Trail. This year, Emmanuel Bible College hopes to Blaze a Trail for student scholarships by collectively hiking the entire length of the Bruce Trail in one day. On August 29th 2009, you are invited to take a section of trail in support of EBC students.
In order to cover the entire trail in one day, we will be dividing it into approximately 50 sections with an average length of approximately 20 km (6-8 hours hiking). Some sections will be shorter, and others a bit longer to facilitate ease and access of parking and trail access. Additionally, certain shorter sections will be appropriated to people who may not be able to hike the longer distance.
• We need people to hike the trail with us. If you are willing to spend a few hours and walk approximately 20 kilometres in one day, sign up to help us complete this task.
• We need people to support the hikers. Each hiker must raise a minimum of $100 to participate. Cheques must be made out to Emmanuel Bible College. Donations of $10 or more are tax deductable. Emmanuel Bible College is a registered charity in the province of Ontario (10730 2846 RR0001).
• We need people to pray. Spend some time taking this adventure to the Lord and ask for safety and fun.
On the day of the hike, each participant will meet at a central location at 9:00 AM for their assigned section of the trail for a briefing. At this meeting, topics covered will include safety, Bruce Trail use, how to read blazes and more. Maps for each section will be handed out. All pledges (not collected online) are due at this time and will be collected by the EBC Trail Captain.
Register and start raising funds today. If you register today, you only need to raise $20 / month for the next 5 months to cover your registration fee. It seems like a lot, but it’s not. So sign up and Blaze A Trail for Student Scholarships!
