Voice on the Scene: Wildcats with Brooms

By Katelyn Unger

So, have you ever wanted to through a rock at a house? Because if you had come out to the event of the year, you would have had your chance! On April 5th a huge crowd of EBCers moved to Ayr for the evening to curl their lives away. We had three sheets full of teams. People screaming at each other and the occasional shout of pain when a slip of the foot resulted in a tumble on the ice.
Everyone did a great job curling, there was a lot of even competition and beautifully thrown rocks. Everyone was in there best form for the event. We left at 6:15 and arrived in time to get our shoes taped just right. There were six teams; everyone played one game in the first half. We stopped for a break, ate pizza and were ready to go again. The next set of games was just as fun as the first, with just as many points and a similar number of people wiping out. For all those people that fell, don’t worry I feel your pain and hope you had just as much fun sprawled on the ice as I did.
Thanks to Tim Grace who put this together, it was great to have the event rescheduled for those of us who wanted to go even in the snowstorm that stopped us last time. Thanks to everyone who came out, you made the event happen! Hope you all had a great time and see you next year!
In the words of Jordan Vetro “Curling is both sport and hangoutishness.” Nothing truer has ever been said.
